Moscow potentates command democracy
In less than a week, a few Muscovites will go the polls to “elect” their “representatives” in the Moscow city Duma (parliament). Poll and vote registration numbers have been miserably low, but the ad campaign is a doozy. United Russia, the party of the Kremlin, has trotted out the stale, “We keep our word, and deliver” but take, for example, the LDPR, or the incongruously named Liberal Democratic Party of Russia. It is the party of the antic-prone Vladimir Zhirinovsky and the enraged nationalists. Their campaign ad:

(“Only LDPR — or keep suffering.”)
And then there’s the government, encouraging their citizens to vote in a manner that can only be described as “possessed of balls.”

(“In a government bottomed on the will of all, the life and liberty of every individual citizen becomes interesting to all.” –Thomas Jefferson, 3rd president of the USA, author of the Declaration of Independence)
