Considering what is going on with Iran it's not such a bad idea right now for the president to do things that will please the Chinese, especially when the gesture is as empty as this one is. We need China's support in dealing with Iran and right now Iran trumps Tibet in terms of our foreign policy goals and security. President Obama meeting with the Dalai Lama will do nothing to change the situation in Tibet.
