Island Hopping
One of the treats New York City offers in the summer is access to Governors Island. Just 800 yards from Manhattan, the former military base offers sweeping views of New York Harbor, car-free bike paths, relaxing picnic areas and some compelling historic sites. Oh, and because this is still New York, it offers art, too.
I took the free ferry ride over to the island today to see Creative Time’s PLOT/09 installations. The installations actually begin at the dock in Manhattan and can be found all over Governors Island. Below are shots of some of the work, along with links if you want to find out more.
