American citizens are the mob from The Simpsons, example 25,367
I read a passage today in the New York Times that reminded me of one of my favorite moments from The Simpsons. The passage, and the corresponding quote, after the jump, without commentary.
From the New York Times:
Overwhelmingly, Americans think the nation needs a fundamental overhaul of its energy policies, and most expect alternative forms to replace oil as a major source within 25 years. Yet a majority are unwilling to pay higher gasoline prices to help develop new fuel sources. [emphasis added.]
From The Simpsons episode “Much Apu About Nothing“:
Crowd: Down with taxes! Down with taxes!
Mayor Quimby: Are these morons getting dumber or just louder?
Aide: Dumber, sir. They won’t give up the bear patrol, but they won’t pay the tax for it either. [emphasis added.]
Nothing has to be added here, other than to reiterate that when The Simpsons is in the zone there has never been a better TV show.
