More rank hypocrisy from the establishment

If someone had an insatiable masochistic streak inside them, he or she could spend every single day chronicling the vile, constant hypocrisy of the American oligarchy.  Sounds fun!  What do we have on tap for today?!

This post is actually going to piggyback on two other posts I read today, because they’re both quite informative and I’d like to briefly add my two cents to their arguments.

First, fellow T/S blogger Allison Kilkenny writes today about what a sickening shitsack Pastor(?) Rick Warren is.  In short, he has refused to condemn practices in foreign countries that include state-sponsored executions of gays.  It’s like Christ already came back and he’s Rick Warren!

Kilkenny also notes this hilariously deceitful passage, in which Warren “El Rey” claims:

“[I]t is not my personal calling as a pastor in America to comment or interfere in the political process of other nations.”

Um, hmmm, but then wait a minute, Christo Warren also said this:

“[W]hether or not they found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is beside the point. Saddam and his sons were raping the country, literally. And we morally had to do something. If you have a Judeo-Christian heritage, you have to believe it when God says that evil cannot be compromised with. It has to be resisted, it has to be overcome.” [emphasis added, via]

Awkward, amirite!?  Oh, boy howdy, Rick Warren, your face must be red from embarrassment.  No?  You don’t have any problem being a foul hypocrite?  Oh, that’s right, you’re a rich Christian.  Never mind.

Now moving from a villain Obama asked to give the opening invocation of his inauguration to a villain he seriously contemplated offering the vice presidency to.  Glenn Greenwald has a typically excellent post today excoriating another shitsack, Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), for embodying another type of hypocrisy one finds almost constantly in Washington–the “fiscal conservative” who wants endless, costly wars.

The long and the short of Greenwald’s article is that Bayh wants to send every young person he can get his hands on to a faraway land to die for him, but he would prefer not to pay for his fantasy time with a tax.  He finds taxes reprehensible, but war playing is fun.

As though one needed proof beyond what Greenwald documents that Bayh’s mind is an intellectual wasteland whose dilapidated real estate can be occupied by the highest bidder or easiest talking point, Bayh said over the weekend that the White House party crashers should be charged criminally for their distracting stunt.  Oooooooo.  He’s tough on crime!  Look, Mr. and Mrs. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, the law is the law.

Except for the time Bayh voted to grant Telecoms giants retroactive immunity over that whole warrantless wiretapping thingy that happened a few years ago.  In that case the law is, you know, fluid.

Also, Obama voted for that same FISA immunity bill, after pledging he wouldn’t.  And he thought Evan Bayh might make a good VP.  And he thought shitsack Rick Warren would be a good spiritual symbol to begin his presidency.  Hard to believe that no Democrats are voting in 2010.
