The man who mistook his La-Z-Boy for a safe ride
Although I don’t condone drunk driving, I have to appreciate the recession-time innovation of Dennis LeRoy Anderson, who powered his La-Z-Boy with a lawnmower, added a stereo, cup-holders, headlights, and a National Hot Rod Association sticker, and motored it on over to his local bar in Proctor, Minnesota.
Unfortunately, he crashed into a Dodge Intrepid on the way home, under the influence of “eight or nine beers.”
Alas! What might have been a genius entrepreneurial concept (this could be an entirely new business model; imagine how many old La-Z-Boys stored in basements await conversion into leisure vehicles via the simple—and relatively inexpensive—power of a lawnmower?) once again goes awry thanks to (six?) too many Miller High Lifes.
The chair’s been impounded to be sold at the next police auction and is reportedly already getting interest from potential buyers. So maybe there’s money to be made on this after all.

Why is it that the dudes with the homemade mystery vehicles are always arrested for DUIs?
With great drunkenness comes great creativity? What I wouldn’t give for a motorized bar stool!

I’ve actually driven a motorized bar stool. We borrowed one for a weekend to enter in a local parade. It never occurred to me to take any pictures of it though (maybe they kill brain cells through osmosis.)
If only I had a spare $1695 lying around…
