Andy, the protesters are not on your team. If we can generalize the crowd, they're substantially greener than the delegates inside the hall. Many are seeking an end to capitalism, and they see this conference as capitalism capitalizing on the pollution it has created.

There was a counter-protest on Saturday from the right. Their slogan was "CO2=Life!" There were perhaps 20 of them, and the Danes politely made room for them to pass as they marched up and down the Strøget, Copenhagen's car-free zone, otherwise attracting little attention.

With nearly half its productivity going to exports, let's remember that China, largely, is little more than the world's tailpipe, economically-speaking. US domestic consumption is about $12 trillion, China's about $1.5 trillion. In other words, the average American is responsible for 35 times the ghge as the average Chinese.
Something has to account for this disparity, but will the Chinese energy-density proposal do that PLUS achieve the 2050 emissions goal?
Seems to me the US has to agree to do everything Europeans agree to do times two to get our ghge per person down to EU per person levels.
How would we get to a place where everyone on Earth had an equal ghge allotment AND that level were a safe one? Copenhagen II, Copenhagen III, IV?
