Punches fly during mid-air argument between flight crew
Air India is an awful airline. Just awful. The planes are dirty, the staff incompetent and let’s not waste time bitching about the food. I wasn’t very surprised, then, by today’s tale of an in-flight fistfight between Air India pilots. From the BBC:
The scuffle is said to have begun as an argument in the plane’s cockpit over claims of sexual harassment but spilled into the galley, startling passengers. One pilot and one air hostess suffered bruises, as punches were thrown.
The incident took place over Pakistan on an Air India flight from the United Arab Emirates to Delhi, with 106 passengers and seven crew on board.
Indian police are investigating the incident, which took place at around 0430 local time on Saturday (2300 on Friday GMT).
The cabin crew alleged that pilots sexually harassed a 24-year-old air hostess, who filed a complaint once the plane landed.
The pilots, of course, deny the allegations. As reported by the Times of India, they say the “harassment claim was an attempt to divert attention from accusations of misconduct against a male flight attendant.” Either way, I’m sure there was a lot of assholery involved.

This happened on an Air India flight over Pakistan? I think we’re lucky we got out of this weekend without a small nuclear war.
Exactly right. It won’t be hotel bombings, firefights in Jammu & Kashmir or any of the obvious catalysts. Some Indian dude will insult a Pakistani businessman with embassy connections — and they’ll turn the Himalayas into a parking lot.
In response to another comment. See in context »Were any of these people drunk? Sure sounds like at least a few were.
