Bad Idea: Waiting out a forest fire in hot tub

I’d like to know why these people though waiting out a forest fire in a hot tub was good idea?

From The Telegraph

As thousands fled, three people who ignored the evacuation calls were seriously injured. A couple were critically burned when they tried to sit out the flames in their hot tub. The pair in Big Tujunga Canyon, on the southwestern edge of the fire, “completely underestimated the fire” and the hot tub provided “no protection whatsoever,” Steve Whitmore, a police spokesman, said on Sunday.

“There were people that did not listen and there were three people that got burned and got critically injured because they did not listen,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger, California’s governor.

    About Me

I was born and raised in Peterborough Ontario, from there I've moved to London, Banff, Victoria and finally Qualicum Beach - I am confident I have found the best place in Canada to settle. I don't consider myself a writer, I only play one on the Internet - I started blogging years ago for my now-defunct website ThrowawayyourTV.com - Since then I've blogged for AOL and worked as a manager/trainer at Mahalo.com assisting writers in learning the ropes of Internet Research and web-writing. Away from the computer I work as a pay-on-call Firefighter here in town.
