Conclusion: Fox News Broadcaster to the Idiocracy

Day 88: December 1 2004
This is the day my views on Fox were set in stone, the day I watched Ann Coulter mock Canada.

Day 89: March 23 2008
4 years later, a Fox News host mocks Canadians soldiers for wanting to leave Afghanistan after 6 years of war.

I realize that my words may have been misunderstood. It was not my intent to disrespect the brave men, women and families of the Canadian military, and for that I apologize.”

Canadians know a good apology when they hear one and the apology issued by Greg Gutfield was widely not accepted by Canadians.

Day 90: April 27 2004
The Great Canadian Boycott of 2004

What was that?
What the fuck?
Boycott Canada?

I can’t imagine any channel on Canadian TV where somebody would be in a position to bark at Millions of viewers and tell them to boycott an entire Country.

I guess I’ve become a little obsessed, and after sifting through the web to find these 101 examples of bad journalism from Fox News.
It feels like I’ve died a little inside. All of these clips and many, many more are all accessible for anybody to see online, yet the Fox News machine grows.

Day 91: July 28 2009

The President is a racist, he has a deep seated hatred for white people or the white culture.

Hold on, your not really saying that on TV are you?

I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people, I’m saying he has a problem, This guy, I believe, a racist.

It’s Real! Shit, They gave this guy his own show!

This guy gets paid Millions. He gets paid more in a day then his viewers do combined in a year. I just hope the next boycott of Canada doesn’t bring his zombie army of Nazi fearing health care protesters to Canada? Are they coming for our free health care too?

Let me export this observation – the Fox News alarmist, fear producing, conspiracy starting, propaganda journalism racket, really looks bad from up here.

What makes this tale of Idiocracy even more sad is that CNN and MSNBC have been trying to copy the political tabloid style that Fox News coined for years. I bet CNN would get more viewers if they went back to their roots and actually reported News. Who can’t tell me they are sick of watching anchors pull up Twitter feeds on the air.

Perhaps there needs to be a better “national discussion” about Fox News, and about how the news industry can move forward gracefully into the future of this new media.

Oh, before I forget, here is the rest of the list quickly, getting sick of this to be honest. I encourage anybody to continue the list elsewhere, or go ahead and add Day 102 in the comments.

Day 92: Before being taken over by Murdoch, WSJ reporters protest.
Day 93: O’Reilly Calls The Daily Show viewers “stoned slackers”
Day 94: Bureau Chief admits Fox News is Bias
Day 95: John Oliver delivers the funniest Fox News documentary you will watch.
Day 96: Wikipedia learns Fox News has been editing facts out of Wikipedia.
Day 97: Canada releases a documentary looking into cause and effect of Fox News.
Day 98: O’Reilly tests positive in Propaganda study
Day 98: Study shows Fox News viewers are most misunderstood about basic facts.
Day 100: Study Debunks “Fair and Balanced” claim.

Day 101: August 6 2009
Listen to Bill O’Reilly arrogantly explain how Fox News is “Victorious!” in the ratings.

This is what it all comes down to – Fox News gets the viewers and the ratings. I’ve been blogging and documenting the follies of Fox News for three years now and I give up: I’m sick of being dialed into everything Fox News and zany right wing Americans are doing, I’m just going to have to understand, that I will never understand.

I’ll leave it up to the “Liberal Media” to fight back against Fox News. I think it would really be nice if some of the more established news organizations filed some sort of report on Fox News and their methods.

In the past month over 30 advertisers have stopped advertising on the Glenn Beck program and one, UPS, made an even greater decision, they stopped advertising on Fox News altogether. Are we seeing the light at the end of the tunnel? Will more advertisers follow? This might just be the most effective method of getting rid of the bad voices in media.

If you would like to add more days feel free to do so in the comments below or if you own your own blog join in the fun and mash up your list.

    About Me

I was born and raised in Peterborough Ontario, from there I've moved to London, Banff, Victoria and finally Qualicum Beach - I am confident I have found the best place in Canada to settle. I don't consider myself a writer, I only play one on the Internet - I started blogging years ago for my now-defunct website ThrowawayyourTV.com - Since then I've blogged for AOL and worked as a manager/trainer at Mahalo.com assisting writers in learning the ropes of Internet Research and web-writing. Away from the computer I work as a pay-on-call Firefighter here in town.
