Man Charged with Public Intoxication in his own backyard

Here is a story that broke in late July and it appears we here at the Idiocracy Index missed it, very odd for us to miss a Taser story with the headlineGrandpa, Pregnant Mom Tasered at Party.” – For archiving purposes I will present it today, better late then never.

Turns out a 55 year old bible school teacher was holding a baptism party for his new godson, as the video shows it seems like your average backyard party – family, friends, kids, bbq, music, drinks etc…According to police there were some noise complaints and at 8pm the party was asked to turn the music down, that’s when things turned all tasey.

Now, I plead ignorance on this one, I don’t know what the noise ordinances are like in Virginia: Everywhere I have lived the noise ordinance is 11pm, but maybe this simply a lame town with a 8pm noise rule. Either way, usually cops deal with noise complaints from high school or college keggers, but the video here shows lots of children.

Also, I’m not going touch the tasing – we’ve already dealt with tasings here on the Idiocracy Index, whether its a 14 year old epileptic, a a 72 year old great grandmother or even a stuffed panther, I think we all know cops love their tasers and they will taser just about anybody and that includes this grandpa and pregnant lady (the police deny that she’s pregnant.)

What I do have a comment on is that the 55-year-old bible school teacher got charged with public intoxication in his own backyard.

Questions have arisen about the legality of the police charging someone with being drunk in public in their own backyard. (Police Spokesperson) Hernandez said that a backyard is considered a public area. Only the interior of a person’s home is considered private.

Wow! You can’t even drink in your own backyard anymore? That’s my favourite place to drink! This is looking less like an Idiocracy and more like a police state.

We moved past the tasing, and the stupid noise rule, to the fact that it was in someone’s backyard. I actually think the noise rule is absurd. There is also the fact that the man is a Bible teacher. A BIBLE TEACHER!! Preposterous!
