Welcome to the Idiocracy Index

Inspired by the classic dystopian film Idiocracy by Mike Judge, which looks at society 500 years in the future after intelligence is forgotten,  The Idiocracy Index is a collection of real-life stories about real-life people involved in situations that one could not imagine possible in our civilized society.  Our goal is to chronicle the decline of human intelligence one story at a time. We  hope this world doesn’t fall into an Idiocracy, but we will monitor the situation through this index.

There are a variety of daily situations in our consumerist society, that contribute to the Idiocracy, such as a high-end retailer hiding disabled workers because they are an eyesore, there are fishermen who shit so much in rivers it pollutes the water and kills the very life they make a living off, there are students who fail so badly, it makes you wonder about the future.

Also popular on the index are authority figures who fail. Tasers and Youtube seem to be a winning combination. Whether they are tasering 72-yr old grandma’s, epileptic children, pastors at baptisms or even stuffed panthers.

There is also our failing media who appear do to be doing more mis-reporting than actual reporting as of late. We can thank the influx of 24/hr cable news networks for this. The biggest contributor in this category is Fox News, who we declared as the official broadcaster to the Idiocracy.

So these are just some examples of the greatness you will find within this Idiocracy Index.
