Scientologists Buy The St. Petersburg Times

How desperate are newspapers these days? Well, the St. Petersburg Times is selling their publication to a California media  company whose top management are Scientologists. 

Ironic twist: the St. Petersburg Times has been a long time critic of the cult that is based in nearby Clearwater Florida. I guess no longer will readers see such scathing reports as, “The Truth Rundown.”

According to the NY Times: “The newspaper’s series, which ran in three installments, in June, August and November, detailed what it described on its Web site as a ‘culture of intimidation and violence’ under the church’s leader, David Miscavige.”

Yes, good bye Truth Rundown for the St. Petersburg Times. Let’s say hello to such articles as, “The E-Meter Is Our Friend!” and rave reviews of all Tom Cruise movies.
