Christians Disguise Their Message For God To Kill Obama
Those crafty Christian conservative. Making the rounds in the Bible-banger sect is a T-shirt/bumper sticker campaign that reads: Pray for Obama—Psalm 109:8.
To the casual motorist this bumper sticker might not seem that unusual. But if you crack your Bible and did deeper, the palm actual reads: “Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”
Okay, nothing new for Christian conservatives to hate liberals. But there’s more: “Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.”
Those crafty Christian conservatives! Maybe they were tired of getting so much flack at their Tea Party Protests for the Obama=Hitler signs that they decided to spout their true sentiments in biblical code?

This is sick. Anyone who pastes that to their car is deranged.
Yes, it’s so much better to not disguise death threats against the president:

Sorry, but there is no death threat implied by Psalm 109:8 and it is not comparable at all to the countless unabashed death threats that President Bush received while in office.
So you’re saying the T-shirt and bumper sticker campaign is perfectly fine? Then that’s GREAT!!!! i think its great too! In fact, chant with me: ““Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow!”
In response to another comment. See in context »No one’s using verse 9 on t-shirts or bumper stickers. Stop lying.
In response to another comment. See in context »Yes, lying. I guess. What a bunch of liars they are at a little publication called the Christian Science Monitor:

In response to another comment. See in context »There is nothing Christian about wishing ill on another person and their children. Disagreeing with someone politically does not make them the wicked enemy to be punished that the Psalms talk about. Resorting to that kind of discourse, against any President or any human being, is wrong. You can disagree with someone, but you should still treat them with respect. Invoking Biblical curses against them is not good, noble, just, pure or praiseworthy – Phillipians 4, verse 8.
In response to another comment. See in context »It reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction when Jules starts quoting Ezekiel 25:17 (did a little Google search for that), right before blowing away the drug dealers.
“And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”
In response to another comment. See in context »Actually, that whole bit was a mishmash of Bible versed. In any case, unlike you, Jules came to realize that the verse didn’t mean what he thought it meant. See, you think Psalm 109:8 is a veiled threat against the president when it is nothing more than an expression of the hope and desire of people have of Obama being a one-term president.
In response to another comment. See in context »So why not just put “Here’s hoping for a one term president” on the shirt, as opposed to a passage in psalms that has duel meaning?
I guess it’s because the Southern Conservative Preacher(s?) who are openly praying for the death of the president probably wouldn’t have that. It would be too passive-aggressive for them.

In response to another comment. See in context »Generally speaking, no one is wishing ill of Obama or his family. (There’s always the handful of kooks who do.) Hoping for a one-term presidency is not wishing ill of him, but from a biblical standpoint, Obama is pretty wicked. I will pray for Obama. I will pray that he will turn away from the world’s evil and that he himself would become the other man the verse speaks of. If he does not, I will pray that both the damage he does and his time in office be limited. The only way you can interpret that to be a threat against him is if you are loopier than what you make Republican Christians out to be. And as far as biblical curses go, you really should read more of the Bible. There are some pretty horrifically graphic curses contained therein.
In response to another comment. See in context »wow, did you really post “from a biblical standpoint Obama is pretty wicked”? Hmmmm – aren’t we ALL exceedingly “wicked” from a “biblical” POV?! To wish or hope for the death of a person because they are “wicked” or “sinful” is really quite wicked and sinful in and of itself, don’t you think… (mind you, I’m assuming you are capable of deep thought rather than merely regurgitating the antiquated hatreds of long dead men)…

This is sick and decidedly un-Christian.
It is unchritian. I so wonder though how a guy who is no more than a city councilman gets elected to the Senate, there less than a year and becomes President in a race where the female govenor is grilled day in day out about her qualifications. That said, so far I am impressed with his effort , he is trying, but there is little change. Now if he gets a headshot, I hope not, but if that happens and he comes back to life, you all better know where all this power is coming from, and I really hope that does not happen, but if these are the end days, anything can happen. I pray he does well, but there is something about him unsettling.
In response to another comment. See in context »I believe that this quote is attributed to Peter who was speaking of Judas. Judas’s betrayal led to the death of Jesus, I don’t think Peter was in a mood of charity or forgiveness at the time. He wanted the man in hell.
Let’s at least pretend to be fair. Just as much hate comes from liberals. Also it’s a mistake to label all tea-party participators as “Christian conservatives”. Dishonesty strips credibility.
This is kind of subversive and an inside joke at the same time. When I see something like this, I’m not going to run home and look up the specific passage from the Bible. But the Christian right wing guys who pride themselves on their knowledge of Scripture, they know what this Psalm 109 says……
Yeah, it’s kinda of a snide, “We get it but they don’t,” tomfoolery. It’s like the fringe Tea Party Patriots who mask their racism by spouting things at protest, “I want my old America back,” or “I’ve never seen an America like this.”
Right on Psalm 109: “Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow!”

Okay, we get it, you’re the company that sells the God kill Obama T-shirts.
In response to another comment. See in context »Thanks for not criticizing across the board–i.e., for using the highly precise qualifier “conservative.” And we all know that conservative Christians are of a single mind. In fact, rumor has it they’re all the same person.
Isn’t it amazing how alike the “others” of the world seem to us, depending on where we’re standing politically, theologically, etc.?
