Shaq to join Lebron in ‘Cleveland’s Last Big Shot’
Shaquille O’Neal will be joining Lebron in Cleveland. Which of course begs the questions: Can Shaq finally accept being second banana? Can Lebron accept being second banana? Will these two bananas rot? Will they meet Shaq’s former second-banana from L.A. in the finals? Is anyone else craving a banana smoothie?
Cleveland is desperate to keep Lebron, or at least win a championship before he flees, and in that regard this deal makes a lot of sense. Shaq, despite his age, adds a muscled-up inside presence to the Cleveland roster, and his contract expires after next year.
Of course, if Shaq gets hurt next year, Cleveland is screwed…..

The Cavs had to do something, but they may have given up a little too much. But a championship is a championship. Cleveland could use one and we all know the Browns and my Tribe aren’t bringing one there anytime soon
Definitely, it might be fair to say that the ‘09-’10 NBA season will be as important as any season in the history of Cleveland sports.

As for whether Shaq’s got another year in him: He doesn’t need a whole year. He’ll lay back for the length of the regular season and let Lebron take the team to the playoffs. Around game 65 you’ll notice that he’s starting to slim down and look ready. And then he’ll come alive for the postseason.
That’s definitely Shaq’s pattern, but at some point age limits even his ability to do that.
