Louisiana Bucks Trend
In the same week that the U.S. Department of Education released its plan to increase high school graduation rates, the National Center for Education Statistics published a study saying Louisiana’s rate will drop nearly 43% in the next nine years.
The number of graduates from public high schools in Louisiana and overall public school enrollment are expected to plunge more than any state in the nation in the next decade, a new study shows.

The article goes on to point out that grad rates are expected to rise by 8% nationally during that same time period.
NCLB has yet to prescribe an effective treatment for areas that lag as far behind as Louisiana.
