Gary Oldman: Greatest villain of all time?
I’ve always thought of Gary Oldman as probably the most under-appreciated actor in Hollywood. This is likely because he’s so good you hardly recognize him from one film to the next. Yes – the guy who played the pimp in True Romance is the same guy who plays Commissioner Gordon in the latest Batman films – and Sirius in the Harry Potter franchise – and the bad guy from The Fith Element. And yes, he completely transforms from one role to the next – his body language, his voice, his appearance – everything.
So it’s neat to have this chart to get a sense of just what an excellent villain Gary Oldman has been over the years:

I was watching him on Conan last night and Oldman was followed by Dax Shepard on the interview couch. Has there ever been a greater drop off in talent on a late night talk show that didn’t involve a reality TV contestant? I mean, going from Gary Oldman to Dax freaking Shepard? Come on.
Oh good grief.
In response to another comment. See in context »I started to really notice Oldman after developing a major teenage crush on him as Count Dracula (the Twilight of my generation?) and I have to say: completely under-appreciated. I mean… Zorg AND Congressman Runyan? Come on. Give it up for the man.
