From AIPAC: Anti-Arab video made by a Jerusalem Post editor

It seems the Jerusalem Post’s Deputy Managing Editor, Caroline Glick, doesn’t have much real work to do, since she has produced her second racist video in two weeks. [The first being 'We Con the World,' making light of nine dead activists on the Gaza aid flotilla.]

AIPAC has generously distributed this one for her to U.S. journalists.

H/T M.J. Rosenberg from Media Matters for America, a self-described former operative for the American Israel Political Action Committee, the uber lobby in the U.S. for the right-wing government currently in power in Israel.

Here’s how M.J. Rosenberg describes Glick: “She’s like a white supremacist in Alabama in 1959 who only became somebody by virtue of his white skin. There are other analogies I might make but they are considered verboten.”

Glick’s latest anti-Arab video features the ‘Three Terrors’ – governmental leaders from Iran, Syria, and Turkey. It’s particularly absurd to see that Glick has included Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan singing “jihad is sweet jihad.”

Do I need to again state my view that Glick should be forced to resign as a newspaper editor for this? Or that she is doing Israel no favor? Imagine what would happen to an American newspaper editor for making a racist video. [remembering Helen Thomas] Yes, Glick lives in a theocratic/democratic society, but she works for a newspaper – as an editor, not as an editorialist.

Imagine what influence someone with Glick’s platform could have if she wrote about individuals in Israeli and Palestinian society who were finding ways to achieve peaceful coexistence. I am assuming Glick is interested in peaceful coexistence. From her website, here’s just a sample of Glick’s views:

Led by US President Barack Obama, the West has cast its lot with Hamas against Israel.
It is not surprising that Obama is siding with Hamas. His close associates are leading members of the pro-Hamas Free Gaza outfit. Obama’s friends, former Weatherman Underground terrorists Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayres participated in a Free Gaza trip to Egypt in January. Their aim was to force the Egyptians to allow them into Gaza with 1,300 fellow Hamas supporters. Their mission was led by Code Pink leader and Obama fundraiser Jodie Evans.
Another leading member of Free Gaza is former US senator from South Dakota James Abourezk.
All of these people have open lines of communication not only to the Obama White House, but to Obama himself.
Obama has made his sympathy for the Muslim Brotherhood clear several times since entering office. The Muslim Brotherhood’s progeny include Hamas, al Qaida and the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, among others. Last June, Obama infuriated the Egyptian government when he insisted on inviting leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood to attend his speech at Al Azhar University in Cairo. His administration’s decision to deport Hamas deserter and Israeli counter-terror operative Mosab Hassan Yousef to the Palestinian Authority where he will be killed is the latest sign of their support for radical Islam.
Given Obama’s attitude towards jihadists and the radical leftists who support them his decision to support Hamas against Israel makes sense.

Eileen’s comments on Caroline Glick’s spoof on the three “axis of evil” clowns shows her total lack of a sense of humour. Politics must have a laugh or two to get a point over. Sometimes “in jest” is more powerful than the straight written report. Remember “PUNCH” magazine?
The fact that this “spoof” has hit a nerve reveals her real feelings about the issue at hand. That’s a rally SLANTed point of view!!!

Caroline Glick is a superb commentator and has a wonderful perspective in every article she writes. She is deeply commited to her journalist reponsibilities and is not afraid to “poke fun” at a situation to get her a point across. Eileen’s comments are toally misguided and show a bias that is fairly obvious.

    • collapse expand

      Dear Laskymont,
      Speaking of showing a bias…..
Anybody who regularly reads Caroline Glick is familiar with her holy war view justifying the occupation of all of the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. She regularly evokes images from 3,000 years ago to justify continued growth of settlements in the occupied territories and Arab East Jerusalem, all IDF actions, the siege on civilians in Gaza, etc. Indeed, her Wikipedia pages shows that she has won several “awards” from right-wing, settler-supporting organizations. Her continued attacks on Barack Obama hint of other biases as well…..
I definitely have a “bias” toward the two-state solution, which I wholeheartedly and openly support – along with most of the rest of the free, democracy-loving world and its major national bodies and international institutions. Those supporting the two-state solution include approximately 70% of the population of Israel.
      What is your bias?

Eileen, the history lesson is superfluous to my comment. I talked about humour in politics which at times is necessary to get a better perspective of a situation. Winston Churchill and other influential commentators have used humour on a regular basis to get a point across and have a little fun in the process.
I guess you take yourself far to seriously!
Caroline is a first rate commentator and if she happens to be right wing in the process, so what? That’s her choice.

“Imagine what would happen to an American newspaper editor for making a racist video”

My dear Eileen White Read.. a RACIST video? Do you happen to understand what racism means?
This video is about three lunatics, that happen to rule countries, of which one of them is developing a nucleair arsenal. The fourth lunatic (Gadaffi) wasn’t in the video unfortunately.
Those four are idiots not because of their race, but because of their lack of common sense or brains if you will.
If you make a hillarious video about the fifth lunatic Hitler, your not being racist towards the German race, but towards his twisted mind that he shares with his Islamic colleagues.
I don’t know your age, but I would recommend a refresher study in human rights or politics or both.
And for me: I LOVED THE TWO VIDEOS so cleverly exposing the theater that they expose. It is in fact the first Israëli answer to the clever media manipulation of Pallywood.

      Dear Peter,
The government of the United States, does not view the presidents of Turkey and Syria as lunatics. My government would not find it funny to compare the presidents of Turkey and Syria to Hitler. In what nation would you find diplomats and policymakers who would make that comparison and be allowed to keep their jobs?
Thank you for the suggestion to further my study of human rights and politics. Where would you recommend that I matriculate to learn about your enlightened version of human rights – perhaps at the “Ariel University Center of Samaria?”

Eileen, i had no intention of comparing Caroline to Winston Churchill and you know that.

I have noted some of the other comments coming in to your column which are more agressive than mine. Mine was totally begnin and refered to the comic side of the equation only which you have still not answered as requested.

    No Lady..
    Wrong all the way.
I am 67, Dutch, I live in France at ease I may add and I’m stunned that someone with such a lack of knowledge about the middle east is allowed a stage.
First of all: the fact that you do not seem to know that mr Assad of Syria is a high level terrorist, is shocking.
Especially for someone who is allowed to expose her opinion in the press.
Mr. Erdogan, who is eagerly making ‘avances’ to his brother in crime: Ahmedinejad, can no longer be taken serious. He left the path of secularism and he is inspired by the islam. His hilarious support and outrage about the provocation with the ‘peace flottilla’ speaks for itself.
NO country in the European Union will allow this idiot in, after his support of hamas.
He knows that and is seeking support from Ahmedinejad and hamas.
This neurotic Turc is still denying the Armenian genocide.

If your USA government does not address those idiots as idiots ?… well, that says more about your government, than about me.

And than we have the silly fool from Iran. Speeching about killing all the jews, warns thaat his country will wipe Israël from the face of the earth and -during the proces- killing his own citizens for demonstrating against the fundamentalist islamic regime by a hired policeforce. Do you fancy any video’s ??
    (not after breakfast)
If your government finds that OK.. than you should overthrow your government.
If it walks like an idiot, talks like an idiot, and acts like an idiot, than it is very likely your dealing with an idiot.
Erdogan, Assad from Syria, Ahmedinedjad en Gadaffi are without any doubt creepy idiots of the worst kind.
There are a lot of incidents that happen and never ever appear in the main stream media.
Darfour, Somalia, where thousands are raped and killed by muslim extremists, a wedding in Afghanistan with over 40 guests killed by a suicide bomber..A hospital in Pakistan.
You know why the media are not interested ?
Because those crimes were not committed by JEWS.
When a JEW commits a crime all the media are on DEFCON 1.

So who is the racist ??

As long as you publish articles like this, my advise would be: get back to the kitchen and cook a meal for your family.

“Get back to the kitchen and cook a mean for your family”

I don’t think anyone who had the slightest inclination to agree with your comments will give any weight to them now after you end your tirade on such an immature, misogynistic note. I think you’ve now accidentally exposed the reasoning behind all of your negative comments and your entire opinion regarding this blog post – you don’t agree with the author because she is a woman. How can anyone listen to your opinion when it is shadowed by such antiquated and sexist views of women? Also, I know you are Dutch, but your grammar is appalling. Please review the proper usage of the comma and other punctuation.

Racist? Um, no. The whole assertion that Ms. Glick is a racist is a transparent, boilerplate attempt by the left to emotionally trump any rational argument and marginalize her opinion.

Unfortunately, Iran and Syria are widely recognized as state sponsors of terrorism, and Turkey seems to be maneuvering to affiliate themselves with that club.

The hell is so great about israel anyways, you zionist gatekeeper? Sure, support israel if you also support murderers. It figures you would be against helen thomas despite the fact she didn’t say anything racist TOWARD Israel. How can you sleep when you support a nation that isn’t even our ally? How can you sleep knowing your a traitor to your country and your people? How can you sleep knowing that you’re nothing but a zionist puppet??? I really wonder if you think Israel is in the right by killing these Palestinian people for no reason is an OK thing to do. Next time you think about how ‘great’ israhell is, remember this: Would you think they’re so great if they knocked down your door and killed your family?

    Dear readers,
The latest Caroline Glick anti-Arab video certainly has touched folks’ buttons all over the world. Some of the True/Slant comments come from New Zealand, Israel and Holland. And there’ve been comments and messages on my FB too.

A person identifying himself as Alan Gadd, who self-identifies as the Mayor of Johannesburg in 1983-84, sent me the following message:
Alan Gadd June 21 at 11:01am Report
Caroline Click has really got to you, she must be makin a great job. WHERE WERE YOU ON 9/11

[Note to readers: Apartheid was a central element of the South African system of government between 1948 and 1994.]

Isn’t the Jerusalem Post the newspaper where Wolf Blitzer was Washington bureau chief? I wonder what he thinks of Caroline Glick.

You appear to be misattributing a quote to Mr. Rosenberg.

The “white supremacist” statement seems to have come from a comment in response to Rosenberg’s review of Budrus at http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/2010/06/budrus_is_a_mus/#comment-162159 — not from Rosenberg himself.
