Diane,

As I have gotten older, I realize I don't know much about anything. What's best for somebody else is...well...beyond me. When I was in my twenties, I knew everything or at least thought I did. But, life wasn't at all what I thought it was. I couldn't tell you the point of life to save my life. I would like to believe we are all here on our own personal journey and have our own lessons to learn, probably spiritual in nature.

I have never been firm in my beliefs about the death penalty. I didn't want Timothy McVeigh executed because he wanted to die and I have wanted others to die because they fought it so hard. It probably says more about me than them. The best punishment seemed to be whichever the condemned didn't want to happen.

No easy answers for me. If you asked me today if I believed in the death penalty, I probably would say no. It's too much like an eye for an eye in Biblical times. I may have suffered loss in my life, but none at the hands of another human being, say having my son raped and killed by a stranger in a panda suit that just picked it up from the cleaners. I'll bet I would believe in the death penalty then.

Diane,
I never used to support the death penalty. Some case's it is warranted . Like this one.! He deserved it.! Anyone that takes a spouse and the kids(even stepkids) and then the previous murder deserves to meet the man upstairs.!
