Prison Wiretap Leads to Charges in Fatal City Shooting
Hey, you know, I think the folks in Baltimore’s prison system are on to something here! A sneaky way to figure out whether prisoners are continuing their criminal careers from behind bars….
I admire this kind of thinking-outside-the-box!
A contraband cell phone planted by law enforcement and corrections officials in Baltimore’s Supermax prison was used to record inmate conversations, uncovering multiple crimes, including a home invasion plot that resulted in a killing.
Kevin Dorsey, 26, and Rodney Lockett, 25, were charged Tuesday with the armed robbery in which two people were shot and one died. via Prison wiretap leads to charges in fatal city shooting — baltimoresun.com.
The operation was called “Dial -a- Cell” (get it?!) and its very likely more charges will spring from the information gathered. Cool.
And, in a corresponding operation – some lawmakers are looking into getting permission to block all cell phone transmissions from Maryland prisons. Now THAT sounds like a good idea as contraband cell phones are often found in prisoners possessions. If you can stop them communicating with the outside world – you could bring their criminal careers to a screeching halt!

I agree. And I am a supporter of not giving prisoners any rights, so I think the less they have access to, the better. Block cell transmissions, tape their conversations, etc.
Very good idea.? Is it legal to tape though.? I am all for it.!
