Sarah Palin as marathoner, commmander-in-chief

Hey, guess what? The 2012 presidential race is already in full swing. Haven’t you heard? It’s Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama. Don’t believe me? Well, here’s my evidence. First, Palin says she’d beat Obama in a run. In an article for Runner’s World magazine, she’s prepared to take on the commander-in-chief in a long distance road race, and she’s feeling pretty cocky:

I betcha I’d have more endurance.

But on to more serious business. Palin’s admirers have just produced the first negative ad of the new campaign season. The script sticks to the philosophy that images speak louder than words. Watch:

David are sure this was actually produced by Sarah’s PAC? There is no byline and why would they be using a free online editing service?

    B,

Those are good points. I have an e-mail into their website. SarahPac.org takes you to SarahPac.com, by the way. The YouTube file attributes the video to SarahPac.org, and it is labeled that way at the beginning of the clip. Will see what I can turn up.

re. the Runner’s World comment, what’s she thinking? Didn’t she see the Obama beach photos? The dude is pretty cut… A veiled reference to his past as a smoker? Or am I giving her WAY too much credit?

    Scott,

Actually, the Runner’s World piece is surprisingly entertaining. We learn that Palin listens to old Van Halen and AC/DC while jogging, and that she covered up a bad fall during the ‘08 campaign. Fascinating stuff.

Nice score for RW. I now have in my head an image of Palin sprinting to “Highway to Hell.”

    Scott,

I’m thinking “Running with the Devil” by VH.

    David,

Old Van Halen or not Sammy Hagar Van Halen? More things are possible with David Lee Roth’s full tenure. I see the crazy lady with press credentials is being hauled off at the end. The one that thought everybody would be looking up her dress. Old Van Halen…great, AC/DC…great, Amy Grant…YUCK!

By 2012 Sarah Palin will be running, but not as the presumptive frontrunner. Look what happened to the last women to have that title?

I can see Sarah running to “Jump” by Van Halen, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” by AC/DC and “The Next Time I Fall” with Peter Cetera of Chicago fame. That I can barely tolerate…her solo stuff; not so much.

    Sandy

Perhaps she should have listened to Band On The Run

    About Me

I've published two novels: The Secrets of the Camera Obscura (Chronicle Books), and The Third Eye (Nan A. Talese/Doubleday). I'm currently working as a journalist for AOL's Sphere. For the past three years I also spouted political opinion for AOL's Political Machine, which I also helped edit. My non-fiction has appeared in places like Men's Vogue, The Wall Street Journal Magazine, USA Today, Newsday, Travel + Leisure, GQ (Spain), and Vanity Fair (Italy). I've dabbled with short stories, publishing in Nerve and a few small journals.

The other half of my split personality finds me playing a variety of instruments for a variety of bands, and writing songs for film soundtracks.
