Happy Tax Day, Teabaggers!
Tradition demands that I post the following video in honor of tax day.

Another new tradition in the making? Tea parties thrown by disgruntled citizens who no doubt have this song memorized. And if Texas Governor Rick Perry gets his way, maybe the Lone Star state will assert its sovereign rights and duck the federal tax man from here on out.

can i just point out that anderson cooper actually said on cnn last night that its hard to talk when you’re teabagging?
Ditmas,
Yes you can! And thanks for that unfortunate image.
David,
I made my first movie film! Seriously. “I’m Glen Beck, Look At Me.”
http://cubicpolitics.wordpress.com/
It is utterly disturbing, but, I made it all by myself with this really cool program you will find. Click on the link in that article and watch the wonders of Oscar buzz. It’s rated “G” for gross. Basically, Glen Beck lecturing on all things about testicles and whatnot.
Well David it is obvious you are a leftist liberal since as usual you missed the point. The reason the disgrunlements are so various is because we are watching our liberties tossed away one by one (ie HR 45, pg 16, sec 301-5…private home inspections under the guise of child protection). If you had truely reported on this NONviolent protest (more than we can say for your side), then you would have heard outrage over Bush, the Republicans, Congress and the whole political system, not just Obama. Some of our signs were prefab by industrious entrepreneurs; what this Country was built on and our new policies are destroying. We want our country back and we want the Govt to remember WE the People tell them what we want…and it ISNT socializm (well, maybe your side). We want to work for our living and we want to put a portion of that towards our roads NOT your fat cat politicians and lobbyist. You are not a reporter. YOU are a propagandist!! ‘Excuse my spelling; I’m just an average American demanding my govt uphold our Constitution, and yes,I AM clinging to my religion since MY country was founded on it and MY representatives are DEAF and too busy plugging Party wars to distract me from the real issues, namely our BIll of Rights being destroyed. So David, how about RE-reading the last sentence which IS the point of the Tea Parties, and reporting the news without pretending we just dont want to pay our taxes. Your opinion stinks of Donkey Doo Doo David.
Freedomisntsilentsubmission,
Thanks for your comment. Actually, I did report on the tea party protests. Here’s a link:
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2009/04/16/poll-tea-parties-a-pr-victory-or-failure/
Though I’m just guessing that you’re not going to like what I had to say. Have a good day, anyway.
The majority of the people who protested yesterday don’t mind paying taxes for roads or education, they don’t want their taxes going to build an addition to the Kennedy Library. The Kennedy’s have enough money and wealthy friends who can donate if they wanted to expand. We don’t want our taxes going to study manure or kill crickets. It’s a belief that if your not paying so much money to your federal government, you can invest your tax dollars into your own state. It’s taxation with crappy representation…how many in Congress actually read the stimulus package before they voted for it?
In response to another comment. See in context »I have to disagree with your comments and say that they are out of line. I also have to say that the politicians have been, for many years, out of line on this issue of taxes. Here we are, the American people, loosing our jobs, loosing our homes, loosing our retirements, loosing our health care, and the cost of living going up, just to name a few. What have the politicians lost in all this? Do they give up anything, small cut in pay? No, they still get their raises and life goes on as they know it as they put us further into debt. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue; this is an issue for the American people. We WANT Change…..We’ve lost our jobs….Let them loose too. Aol has reported that an upwards of 250,000 people nationwide attended the TEA parties; that is a joke. Report the truth..In Bellingham, WA (a small community) it was estimated over 4000 people. Now that is a lot of people. Our countries news agencies need to get on the ball and learn to present the facts as they are and not how the government wants them presented……
The reason I commented today was because I couldn’t believe how the media was misrepresenting what took place yesterday and how the protesters were portrayed as right wing extremists (did you see CNN?). The protesters were Dems, Reps, and Independants who are fed up with our federal government (congressional approval rating of 37%). I agree with you, we need to vote the career politicians out of office and have term limits. In fact, I even emailed Nancy Pelosi after she approved the $4,700 pay raise and politely asked her to decline it along with the other members of Congress. My comments are directed at the people who think what happened yesterday was silly (Rachel Maddow) and who take the “Tea Party” symbol so literally they can’t see it’s just not about taxes, but an environment of power and greed on both sides.
In response to another comment. See in context »Val, stay with it. Anyone who thinks this is nothing but a tantrum is underestimating the anger and concern over a semi tyrannical government evolving here. I applaud all the “tea partyers”.
In response to another comment. See in context »Val,
The congressional approval rating is the highest it has been in quite a while, actually. And it’s rising. I don’t think all of what happened was silly, but in the absence of better ideas, the tea party thing still strikes me as something of a tantrum.
Seriously, I doubt that many of those at the demonstrations actually voted for Obama. Why would they have? The rhetoric they use about big government goes right in the face of everything Obama said he would do, and is now doing, during the campaign.
Yeh, that 39% is pretty impressive. You can call it a tantrum or you can call it people expressing their point of view. I think it’s pretty cool to see a nonviolent protest from people who have been too quiet for too long. I don’t know if they voted for President Obama or not, but I do know a lot of people who did vote for President Obama and they weren’t sure what his policies would be…it’s pretty hard when your voting record consists of “present”.
In response to another comment. See in context »Hey Val, stay with it!!! You are so right. Those who think yesterday was a “tantrum” truly do not understand the anger and disgust with our federal government- not just obama. These Elected people in DC need to be constantly reminded that they work for us!!! We do not work for them- there is a bit of tryanical behavior coming from some of our elected officials. I applaud those who “tea partyed” yesterday.
Val,
I have no problem with people taking to the streets to protest this or that. You don’t like taxes? Fine, demonstrate till the cows come home.
But, please, you really give yourself away with the whole voting present thing. This is a Republican movement. Your rhetoric is right out of the FOX playbook.
David, how come you label it as a Republican movement? Do all Dem’s, Independents, Libertarians, etc…. like what is happening to the country as far as overtaxation and government gone wild?
In response to another comment. See in context »You are partly correct, I do watch FOX, but I also watch CNN, MSNBC, and I actually read newspapers. To formulate an opinion based on one source would be stupid. Unfortunately, a lot of people do just that. I am only relaying what experiences I have encountered with people I know and if you want to disregard anything I have to say based on one news outfit that I watch go ahead. That tells me a lot about you.
In response to another comment. See in context »David, How come you label it as a Republican movement? No Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, etc… have any problem with the way things are going in this country. Come on now; lets have some citical thinking here.
