Another excellent reminder that its the people, not the tools, that have the most profound influence on who we become. Thanks for the heads-up about this study.

Mr. Disalvo,

I believe that you made an error in your analysis of the results of this study. Specifically you are confusing symptoms with causation. Why do some children associate with "delinquent peers" while others do not? The study could suggest that depressed children with verbally abusive parents seek out other similar children. It may not be the social associations that is causing violence but is rather a symptom of having depression and abusive parents. These youths have a preposition to violence which originates in the home but comes to fruition among peers. Your point that a parent should indeed be cognizant of who one's children are associating with because any child can get into trouble through his or her peers is of course still valid but I have to disagree as to your reading of causal associations.
