This Friday, don’t miss 2X4’s closing party at the W/_____ Gallery in Chinatown

W/_____(“with”) is an experimental project space for artists, musicians, architects and designers to co-curate and create original collaborations. The space is only a 150 sq. ft. and used to be an ugly storage space. Now the street-level storefront in the heart of Chinatown is a beautiful space where artists create site-specific works alongside the gallery’s co-directors, Jiminie Ha and Rebecca Giminez. The exhibitions are “quick, dirty and fun” – ranging from an evening to a week of unusual happenings.

This is the last week to see a collection from the retrospective book it is what it is, by New York City-based design firm 2×4, Inc, which was recently featured in the exhibition, “DESIGN USA: Contemporary Innovation,” at the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

Interns ripped apart 2X4’s recent book and displayed the pages on the walls of the installation space. The objective is to draw in a passersby in order to encourage interaction with this large collection of work in a compact space.

The closing party will be this Friday 5/14, from 7-9 pm. (The space is small so it’s likely the party will move into the street.) Expect free PBR, smarty graphic designers and the potential of the the NYPD handing out drinking tickets.

#Quick. #Dirty. #Fun.
