		<description>Yes, it seems that all this tells us is that the IOC adheres to a regressive, sexist policy. Too bad, that. Especially since there&#039;s so much money and support for their Games from people who should be upset about this.</description>

		<description>I was fencing saber in the mid 1990s and anyone then competing in that sport as a woman could not advance further than nationals. Absurd! The reason...a bunch of old men who run the sport from Europe insisted it was, of course, too dangerous.

Times and attitudes did change. I was amused and deeply proud to see the U.S. women sweep gold, silver and  bronze in the most recent Olympics in saber.

Sexism makes kudzu look lazy.</description>
