Catholic School Rejects Child Because Parents Are Gay

A Catholic preschool in Boulder Colorado has refused to admit a child with gay parents.

What can you even say about an appalling story like this? Punishing the innocent doesn’t seem like something Jesus would have approved of.

BOULDER, Colo. — A preschooler is caught in the middle of a fight between religion and sexuality. Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, in Boulder, has refused to readmit a preschooler because the child has two moms. Her parents are lesbians.

“God and Jesus would not allow discrimination in that way,” said Joellen Raderstorf, one of about two dozen demonstrators who turned out at Sunday’s church service.

Most of the protesters stood silently, across the street, holding signs. One read “God loves all people.” Some of them went inside during mass. The priest addressed the situation in his sermon.

“He feels like it’s a calling to be strict with upholding the Catholic principles,” said Dave Ensign, president of the Board of Directors of Boulder Pride, a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organization.

“People who understand the Catholic teaching will understand why the decision was made,” said Fabien Ardila, a member of the parish.

Why on earth would a lesbian couple want their daughter to be educated as a Catholic?
Perhaps they should try a madrassa next.

If their area is anything like the one I live in, the only options in terms of schooling are the public schools and the Catholic schools. When my parents lived across they city from where I live now (downtown), there was a Montessori nearby for preschool, but there was a Catholic preschool about a block down. If I wanted to send any hypothetical kids to preschool where I live now, I would have to send them to the Catholic school. I should probably not mention to them that I’m a practicing Buddhist… :)

    Charles,

It’s quick and easy to press the outrage button, but what exactly do you think the parish should have done? Admit the child and leave open the risk of someone having to say to one or more of the kids that Johnny’s parents are flaunting their sin and in danger of hellfire? Sooner or later someone’s going to ask, “Why does Johnny have two moms?”

I completely agree with kenya that a thinking person is compelled to wonder what was going on in the parents’s minds.

The catholic continues it’s long legacy of deceit & hypocricy. The recently exposed ring of male prostitutes in the Vatican was ignored by the church, the endless stream of pedophile priests & other sexual perverts seems to have been covered up the the catholic church. So this catholic school has to “reject” a little 5 year old child for fear that she might impose some sexual perversion on the other children because her parents are gay. These people are a disgrace to the world and shameless in their sin. The catholic church, said to be rich to the tune of 100 billion $, spends no money on it’s ignorant & indigent, but in it’s greed still begs for money from it’s millions of poor cult followers, is more interested spending money on it’s crude & obscene display of statues (false idols), expensive robes woven with gold thread, crowns, scepters, incense burners, crosses, fancy churches (not to mention Roger Mahoney’s 175 million $ theatre in downtown Los Angeles) than it is in feeding the poor, educating the ignorant, showing commpassion & pity, being inclusive as was Jesus, on & on ad infinitum. The catholic church is no different than scientology or any other cult that is rich, controlling, powerful and about as far from the teaching of Jesus as human beings can get. This precious little girl is far better off being in a school that shows some love and understanding, the laws of God and simple common decency condemn this horrible discriminating ,harmful & disgraceful behavior of a “church” that is supposed to to the opposite
