What do you do if you’re the most tight-lipped, image-conscious, control freak of a company in the tech world — which is to say, you’re Apple — and some disgruntled buyers gripe that your new signature product’s touchscreen is easily scratched? It’s sort of brilliant, really: You ban the sale of screen-protecting films from your stores. What’s that? Somebody said iPhone screens scratch easily? Why, if that were true there would probably be a market for protective films, wouldn’t there? Do YOU see any protective films in our stores? Of course you don’t! See? Problem solved! Next!
