The Joe Wilson Store

Say, do you want to let people know that you stand foursquare with the forces of ignorance, boorishness and fearmongering that have hijacked the national political conversation? Sure you do! And what better way to do that than by visiting Rep. Joe Wilson’s CafePress store, where you can order a wide variety of inexpensively screen-printed paraphernalia bearing the slogan JOE WILSON: REPUBLICAN FOR CONGRESS, with the word “Republican” thoughtfully underlined as if to suggest that other Republicans are somehow suspect! After all, why should we limit our buckshot to the other side when we can delegitimize members of our own party too? And look stylish doing it? You can choose from t-shirts, kids’ t-shirts, junior jersey t-shirts and long-sleeved t-shirts! Plus: Tote bags! You can carry t-shirts in them! Whatever cotton-blend tchotchke you choose, you’ll be endorsing a mindlessly belligerent notion of civic discourse and the cynical conviction that absolutely anything goes if it leads to a political win… or heck, even just some time on camera! So remember, that’s the Joe Wilson store, where we never apologize… for bargains!

    About Me

I'm a writer in Santa Monica, CA. I spent some years at Newsweek and some more writing for TV. My freelance journalism has appeared in The New Yorker, Time, Slate, The Boston Globe, Fast Company, Fortune Small Business, Washington Journalism Review, American Journalism Review, American Heritage and TV Guide, and on PBS.

I've been writing about popular culture for more than 20 years, and about technology for almost that long. I've been fascinated the last few years with the way the two have started to intertwine, so that's what I'll be looking at here: Technology, pop culture and the places where they meet. I'll also be poking around in the world of blogging, microblogging, nanoblogging, micronanoblogging and whatever comes next.
