FAQ
Why do you get to write this blog?
I certainly ain’t no baller. I am prone to tilt, my skillz are suspect in many of the games I like to play, my current bankroll is in the low triple digits. So, if you’re looking for ballers, or to learn something, I’d read pr1nnyraid or Brian Townsend or Doyle instead. Unfortunately, those guys are too busy being ballers to bother to write much, or to be good at writing (except Doyle who’s hysterical). So, here I am, doing somewhat of a gonzo-journalism routine on poker.
What are your credentials?
I used to play live poker for a living. That blog amused the True/Slant editors, who asked me to do this.
If you’re not a baller, then what will you write about?
The quest for baller-ness: The long battle with my dumbly bloated ego; the retreat from putting two thousand dollars on a poker table to putting thirty dollars into a tournament entry; bankroll management; actually putting the proper study in and enough self-reflection to realize what I’m doing wrong.
How?
By studying iterations of strategy, by employing a Chris Fergisun inspired bankroll management system, by checking my ego and only moving up in stakes when I’ve achieved the proper bankroll.
Where?
On PokerStars, mainly in their large tournaments. Under the name “worktobedest” (WorkToBeDestroyed was too long). If I can achieve substantial winnings, I might add Fulltilt or Cake. You can follow my tournament statistics here.
The visible signs of antesatisfaction?
An approximate erection: a solicitous adversion: a gradual elevation: a tentative revelation: a silent contemplation.
