The greatest round in boxing history
If you haven’t watched the trilogy of fights between Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti, you have missed out on one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the sport. While the three fights they fought over the course of a year were all breath taking, nothing that I can think of compares to the 9th round of their first fight back in 2002. The astonishing display of heart, tenacity and sheer will that both men showed took the boxing communities breath away, and as a result, both men will be remembered as two of the greatest warriors to have ever laced up. Sit back and enjoy:

Thanks for this. I remember watching this fight with my dad. The excitement and disbelief grew and grew after each round.
At the time Jim Lampley made a cute comment about it being the fight of the millennium or the fight of the century(only 2 years in). 8 years on i’d say ward v. gatti still deserves that title.
