Erislandy Lara: The Best Prospect in Boxing

In my view, Cuban junior middleweight Erislandy Lara is the hottest prospect in boxing. According to inside sources, the standout amateur gave Ricky Hatton absolute hell in his preparation for Manny Pacquiao and was responsible for the black eye Hatton wore days before the fight.

Lara was a World amateur champion, and one of the top fighters on the highly competitive Cuban scene. After defecting to Europe, Lara has stormed onto the 154lb division winning all 9 of his fights with ease. What makes Lara so special, in my eyes, is his extraordinary composure and total economy of movement.  Lara has deft footwork, very good hand speed and razor sharp timing. Lara fights like a veteran professional already, and it’s hard to see which 154lber could match him in the near future. Take a look at Lara’s second pro bout here:

Thanks for the tip. Who’s he fighting next and where can we see his work? (Google, I know, but seems like schedule info’s a good PSA …)
