Invention: The Vertical Newspaper
Peter Bluijs from the Dutch based Telegraaf Media Groep used my newspaper to prove his innovative idea really works. Judge for yourself: is the vertical paper worth developing? Video recorded by Marcin Nowak and Artur Karda from Media Regionalne, Poland.

Interesting. But the content still needs to be fantastic these days to get anyone to read a printed paper, no?
Of course, Caitlin. The content has to be great to attract your readers. But on top of that there is design, navigation, presentation, “easy-to-use-ness”: all important instruments to please your readers.

Copyrights are overrated, Matt. We are living in the age of Google.

@haitskevdlinde: cool! (pity of his lousy english:-S)
@baspaternotte: Nice! Are you really going to do it?
@MichaelvdGalien: do! Horizontal newspapers are completely unmanageable.
@johanvanboven: Awful!
@johanvanboven: But how do you browse if you don’t have this paper in your hands but instead it’s on your lap / on the table?
@brewbart: That’s hard because you constantly need changing hand position. Turn pages in up/down position, hold the paper in left/right. (…) left alone that this asks for is a completely different printing facility. Feasible?
@dondeguadelajar: Nice idea, but do not think it works: People in public transport want to hide behind their paper http://bit.ly/3t0qJk
@DaniSchouten: go beyond that! http://bit.ly/3hlihM
@johanvanboven: I’m against it. The spreadstory disappears. That’s a shame.
@ brewbart: The spread is gone, indeed. And moreover, even the full page might be gone, because of the fold in the middle.
@annetstruik innovation in newspaper land, good idea!
@Schaduwschrijve: So simple!
@Tjaap: Why don’t you let a group of communication students perform a user test? Seems interesting.
