Prayers for Fort Hood Tonight…
First of all, as an American, my heart broke into two pieces tonight when I heard of the tragic mass murder at Fort Hood, Texas earlier this evening when a U.S. Army soldier opened fire on a military processing center at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday; killing at least 12 people and wounding at least 31 others, according to Army officials in a report to CNN.
Secondly, as a Muslim, my heart further broke into another two pieces when it was learned that the Fort Hood shooter was a Muslim mental health care professional medical doctor who (similar to the April 16, 2007 Virginia Tech massacre) used two handguns during his mass murder rampage.
Thus, with my heart currently broken into four distinct pieces right now, needless to say, I am completely speechless (and bumfuzzled) by this latest tragedy at Fort Hood.
According to CNN, the gunman (who was apparently captured alive by emergency personnel) was later identified as U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39.

Fort Hood Shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan
Licensed in Virginia, Hasan was a psychiatrist who previously worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center but more recently was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to professional records.
Hasan was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq “and appeared to be upset about that,” Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, told CNN during a live interview shortly after the Fort Hood attacks today.
Sadly though, the proud Texas residents of the Ft. Hood/Killeen area are tragically no strangers to notorious acts of American mass murder.
Many Americans remember vividly when our country watched in horror on October 16, 1991 when a man named George Jo Hennard drove his pickup truck into a ‘Luby’s Cafeteria’ restaurant in Killeen, Texas and then proceeded to shoot, murder and kill over 23 innocent Americans (and injure 20 others) before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide.
Empirically speaking, the 1991 Luby’s Cafeteria Massacre was the single deadliest shooting rampage attack in American history until the aforementioned 2007 Virginia Tech Massacre, by 23-year-old student Cho Seung Hui, who killed over 32 people and injured 25 more during his mass murder rampage here in our own DC backyard of Blacksburg, Virginia over two years ago.
Sadly tonight, we now have a third major ‘mass murder rampage’ that will go into the annals of modern historical criminal infamy along with the Luby’s Cafeteria and Virginia Tech massacres.
As our brave nation has successfully persevered through times of mutual societal tribulations like shooting rampage massacres at Luby’s Cafeteria and Virginia Tech, so too, shall we patiently persevere through another senseless (and irreligious) act of mass murder which occurred in Texas this evening.
Thus, on behalf of all Americans- regardless of which corner of the country that we reside- please know that all of our heartfelt thoughts, condolences and prayers are specifically being prayed for the people of Fort Hood, Texas tonight.

This is indeed heartbreaking. I am a Christian. I understand how this could be even more devastating to Muslims. I have nothing against Muslims; it is anyone who wants to kill Americans whom I am against. Yes, it’s sad that the shooter is a Muslim. I’m certain there are many bigots who are revelling in that fact. This killer may be anti-American but I do not believe that all Muslims are. I am heartbroken that ANYONE could do such a thing. There are those bigots who are going to say very ugly and hateful things against Muslims, but they do not represent every American. I’m sorry this happened, no matter who did it. I am praying for all of the victims and their loved ones.
This is very sad. I heard on MSNBC that currently, there is about 1 psychologist for every 700 military personnel. We need to do better for our soldiers. Mental health is not something we can take so lightly. We should not be putting so much pressure on one therapist, and our soldiers should have better access to help.
In response to another comment. See in context »I am the former Classified Custodian of Fort Hood,TX. I have expert knowledge to explain this horrible massacre. For twenty years I have done all in my power to bring my knowledge to attention of our government. Please view my memoir as proof. http://www.scribd.com/doc/17566923/Memoir-of-Stanley-Green.
Muslims have an extremely strong connection, even if they are born on American soil. The first generation to come here still has very strong ties to their homeland and fellow Muslims Muslim isn’t just their religion, its their culture, government and its in their hearts! I know Muslims that have been here for over 20 years, very nice, seemingly warm, they are not religious at all and they do get extremely upset at our government, making comments and refer to other Muslims as “their kind.” Their children will probably grow up with the same mindset depending on how strong their parents opinions are. They are here physically, but their heart is somewhere else!
The EXACT same thing could be said for American Jews.
90% of the people who gave nuclear secrets tot he Soviets resulting in the Soviet ability and threat to kill every man woman and child in America were given to them by American Jews.
So I assume you subscribe to this:

[...] day after the Fort Hood massacre, we’re now left to sort through the debris of the shooting. An Army doctor kills double digits of people and seriously maims many more; [...]
It is quite a temptation to wrap our minds around the muslim connection…I have turned off the TV in hopes of avoiding the usual expert drivel…and for now hoping there is no religious motive to killing innocents in the name of God.
