Except that it is not a loophole. There is no authority nor jurisdiction for the White House to limit compensation for any company that did not take a taxpayer bailout.

But there might be some of that authority on the way. The House has already passed the Executive Compensation Bill that would (a) give shareholders more authority over executive compensation plans and would allow federal regulators to restrict incentive based compensation practices deemed to threaten the health of larger financial institutions.

The House bill has not yet gained traction in the Senate.

Hopefully, Sen. Dodd’s committee will get this through in the overhaul he is planning. But it won’t be easy.

The White House went as far as they could legally go here. Why not take some of that anger and fire it in the direction of the Senate where it can do some good?

Personally I don’t trust the Government meddling in private enterprise at all. Consider this;

Why should we trust them in capping salaries? Name one business the Government has touched that turned a profit?

Get ‘em AK! Dissent! I love it… you go from dire to rib-tickling, serious-as-a-heart-attack to sarcastic.

So which are we? I prefer to think of myself as a pesky citizen (i would like to be peskier – emails to the White House letting them know their Goldman Alumnus club is NOT Change i believe in are just mosquito bites) but more often than not i feel like a member of the bewildered herd – mooing and pushing my way through the pasture trying to swat the flies off my face, find a good patch of grass and avoid being marked for slaughter by the ranch hands.

Cheap Money Courtesy Of Taxpayers + Foreign Investments + No Competition = Cha-Ching! It’s no wonder Goldman was able to pay back its loans so quickly, while making a very handsome profit in the process. This was all done under the pageant of “What Is Good For Goldman Is Good For America,” but that of course isn’t true. All Goldman did was take the money and turn it into bonuses.
