Very informative...it is supposed to be about cost but somehow has transformed into a fight over who gets the government money. Any true solution would need all its working parts it seems to me that insurance reform and health care reform are two entirely different issues.

"Lieberman is worried that Joe Wilson’s tantrum (and his cry of “You lie!”) will distract from the real issues..."

well I can tell you right now, after watching every cable news outlet i could stomach (the so called Liberal networks as well) that his outburst took up A LOT Of time and was the basis for most shows. They have really perfected their ability report on the most inane news of the day and Lieberman's grade of F is perfectly accurate. She may be a tough grader, but they couldn't possible fail any better (or worse?).

I would much rather be anally raped by Obama than either of the previous two presidents. He would be suave and gentlemanly about it, apologetic even. He would use high-priced lube. He would tell me it is for the good of the country. I would feel proud.

I'm sure you've all seen this but it's worth another look: Obama on single-payer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpAyan1fXCE&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epnhp%2Eorg%2Fnews%2F2008%2Fjune%2Fbarack%5Fobama%5Fon%5Fsing%2Ephp&feature=player_embedded#t=30

"...everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And that's what I’d like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.”

And WE are the ones who are supposed to fall in line with The President?!?! How about The President get's his ass in line with The President! If I'd voted for him - I'd REALLY be pissed!

How would an inaccessible public option lower health care premiums? Although Obama was rhetorically brilliant, it had very little substance. All I really know is that:
1) Even if their is a public option, I will not be able to sign up because I already have a shitty HMO
2) Obama says that his plan will bring down costs due to the new law requiring all citizens to carry private insurance. However, insurance companies will have to pay claims and insure sick people. Wouldn't this result in higher costs that at best offset the increased revenues and thus leave prices where they are or possibly higher?
3) Nothing changes in the way medicine is practiced as fee for service health care is still the dominant form of health care.
4) If I were not philosophically opposed to the concept of profiting off of others health (or lack of health), I would invest in pharmaceutical/health insurance industries.
