Of course, I detest healthcare lobbyists. Really, I'm not interested in their reasons for becoming lobbyists because now they make their livings off of the pain and misery of the American populace. However, the real issue is that elected officials are essentially taking bribes i.e. "donations" from the private healthcare industry and manipulating policy to keep the cash flowing. That's a basic violation of democracy. If we punish the corrupt politicians and reward the decent ones (and believe it or not, there are decent ones,) we can cultivate a Washington government that actually -- imagine this -- works FOR the people, and not against them.

Well the lobbyists are surrounding this issue from all quarters...recently I noticed a letter to the editor in the NY Times under the topic of health care. It was from Jeffrey H. Anderson, a concerned citizen, who noted that the poll that showed 72% approval for a public option was not the last word on the subject, in fact, a poll by the Pacific Research Institute disputes the finding. Of course Jeffrey works for this dubious think tank although he did not disclose this in the letter but the Times did. However the Times did not disclose that Pacific Research gets its funding from the likes of Altria (Phillip Morris), Chevron,
Texaco, Exxon, Pfizer and most important, PhRMA.
And Andersen, why he is a former republican speech writer and his job as a senior fellow is to write editorials and blogs against the public option.
So these lobbyists come in many disguises to spread disinformation and money and if the public option is killed by Democrats or Republicans you can be sure K street will be flowing in champagne.
