These activities should be dealt with in the same manner as other exposed criminal behavior.

And the fact that they haven’t been dealt with exposes two things: the reality of America’s two-tier justice system, and the highly undemocratic nature of the United States. As you point out, any other criminal behavior that didn’t involve a handful of the US oligarchy would result in immediate investigations and trials. However, the fact that these crimes involve the elite results in total apathy on the part of our Congress. Secondly, a majority of Americans want investigations into Bush era crimes. If America is indeed a democracy, the will of the majority should mean something. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean anything to our sitting Congress.

Absolutely – Obama’s speech was also a series of empty platitudes, so he had that much in common with the end of Cheney’s speech. Really, watching Obama rationalize his military commissions and indefinite detention has – and continues to be – a total embarrassment.

I’m fairly convinced Cheney has a Cone of Silence installed in his office, what else could explain his ideology that is devoid of what is actually happening around him.

Allison, don’t forget about Obama’s national security speech that happened at the same time. I have not picked apart the speech in full yet; but Pres. Barry contradicts himself multiple times in his speech, not just over his past announcements but over ideas in that one speech in itself.
I know politician never really ever talk facts, but when your rhetoric contradicts itself you look like a fool.

Cheney’s fear factor laden speech seems to have a mea non-culpa underpinning, as if he’s rehearsing his witness stand appearance if the foolhardy, terror-supporting liberals ever get their way. He’s worked his way down from denial of torture activities to well, we had to do it. The ends, however they are characterized, justify the means. To amplify all commentary above, the activities of the war on terror of the Bush administration were criminal. These activities should be dealt with in the same manner as other exposed criminal behavior.

Other than that, here’s an acronym for Cheney’s rhetoric: FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real.

The crazy thing is that a majority of Americans say they would support investigations into possible crimes committed by Bush officials. However, the MSM willfully ignores this, and acts as if pursuing prosecutions is somehow “unrealistic” or “petty” instead of what it actually is — justice.

If the media had harped about impeachment and war crimes as much as they did to support the war perhaps the public outcry would have changed. The sorry thing is those who profit from war are the ones who control the mainstream media and the mainstream media are the ones putting Cheney’s grimacing face all over the place.

I agree. I’m always amazed when Cheney is on a major network news channel, and somehow the question of his war crimes never arises. Very strange.

Cheney has NEVER had to accept that. He has never won an election. He has always been an untouchable insider. And anyone who thought we had a “fair and balanced” MSM has got to see the blatant propaganda. How does a despised, cruel war criminal ex VP get so much air time?? They treat him like he is still running the show. He should be defending himself in a court of law, not redirecting the agenda while rewriting history.
