Contest for tix to new indie film conference
The evening of Monday, February 22, marks the first IndieCon conference. IndieCon will focus on various areas of indie-film production, acting, writing, directing, cinematography, distribution, and financing, with content geared also to game and animation professionals.
Featured speakers at the inaugural event — which starts at 5 p.m. at the Universal Hilton Hotel next to Universal Studios, Hollywood — are scheduled to include Peter Hoffman, former head of Carolco Pictures and a producer at Seven Arts Pictures; Joan Halpern Weise, national director of entertainment programming at AFTRA; Paul Audley, president of FilmLA, Inc.; Todd Lindgren, VP, communications, at FilmLA, Inc.; Mike Erwin, Independent China Animation film producer; actor and filmmaker Louis Mandylor; casting director Ricki G. Maslar; and Dena Hysell, producer and managing partner of Secret Handshake Entertainment.
Here is a full program listing; here is more information about IndieCon; its associated networking sites IndieAxis.com and IndieFest.com; and IndieCon’s cofounders, filmmakers Marc Clebanoff and John Tidwell.
Preregistration is $69 and registration at the door is $79.
BUT … three Cine Synapse readers can win a free ticket by writing as a comment to this post by 9 p.m. Eastern time Thursday (2/18/10), in 300 words or less, what their favorite FILM ABOUT FILMMAKING is and why. Those three who make the most passionate, persuasive, colorful case for their selections will win. I’ll select winners Thursday night (and will be strongly, if not entirely, influenced by the reactions of other commenters). I’ll put the winners in touch with the IndieCon folks Friday.
(Having trouble getting started? Check out this great list and I bet some movies on movie making will come flooding back into your mind.)
